Bihar election 2025 live updates: Jan Suraaj Party president Uday Singh on Saturday said that party founder Prashant Kishor will remain active in politics and continue his efforts toward Bihar’s development.

Bihar election 2025 live updates: Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Saturday took aim at the Congress while reflecting on the NDA’s victory in Bihar, asserting that the party has been struggling across state elections held after the Lok Sabha polls.

Bihar election 2025 live updates: Responding to Congress MP and Lok Sabha Leader of Opposition Rahul Gandhi’s post on the Bihar election results, deputy chief minister Vijay Kumar Sinha criticised the Congress leader, saying, "Rahul Gandhi does not believe in the constitution from the beginning. He cannot understand that the people of India want a 'sevak', not a 'yuvraj'. We got more than 2/3 of the vote in 2010, too. This is not the first time," reported news agency ANI.
LJP(RV) chief Chirag Paswan said representatives of the party had met Bihar CM Nitish Kumar, adding that there had been a discussion on government formation.
“Representatives of LJP(RV) met Bihar CM Nitish Kumar and discussed government formation in the state,” PTI news agency quoted Paswan as saying. He further said that the representatives congratulated Nitish on the NDA poll victory.

Paswan's party had contested on 28 seats in the state according to NDA seat sharing, and won 19 of those.
JD(U) leader KC Tyagi on Saturday said the Opposition was “indulging in a blame game rather than engaging in self-reflection and working on their mistakes.”
In an interview with ANI news agency, Tyagi said, “Just two days ago, Tejashwi Yadav was declaring himself the Chief Minister. Democracy is alive, but Congress is not ready for the fight.” He further said the women and youth of Bihar had given the mandate to the BJP.
Star campaigners for the NDA, Uttar Pradesh chief minister Yogi Adityanath and deputy CM Keshav Prasad Maurya, through their campaigns and strategy, contributed to the alliance's victory in the Bihar Assembly elections.
Yogi Adityanath addressed a record 30 rallies in support of 43 candidates in 10 days in Bihar, drawing large crowds. Meanwhile Maurya, who was was appointed party co-incharge for the Bihar assembly elections, had been tasked with mobilising the support of the non-Yadav OBC community.
Bihar election 2025 live updates: Reacting to the NDA's landslide win in Bihar, Makkal Needhi Maiam (MNM) chief Kamal Haasan called for “examining” the victory.
“Those who have won should celebrate their victory. But we must also examine whether the victory was achieved fairly…,” Haasan said, as quoted by ANI.
Former union minister and MP from Aarah, RK Singh, was suspended by the BJP's Bihar unit citing “anti-party” activities. In a letter to him, the BJP unit said: “Your activities are against the party. This falls under the purview of indiscipline. The party has taken this seriously. This has caused damage to the party”.

BJP's vote share rose to 20.07 per cent in the 2025 Assembly elections, in comparison to 19.46 per cent in 2020. The party also contested on 101 seats in these elections, lesser than in 2020, when it contested on 110 seats, according to Election Commission data.
Late gangster-turned-politician Md Shahabuddin's son and RJD candidate Osama Shahab won the Raghunathpur seat in the Bihar Assembly elections. He won the seat by a margin of 9,248 votes. His closest rival, JD(U)'s Vikash Kumar Singh, polled 79,030 votes.
Jan Suraaj president Uday Singh said that the party was “disappointed” with their performance, adding that they had “failed to convince Muslim voters.”
Singh further alleged that the “cash transfer” to women's accounts, under a welfare scheme, had played an important role in NDA's victory in the polls, PTI news agency reported.
LJP(RV) chief Chirag Paswan on Saturday morning met Bihar CM Nitish Kumar at the latter's residence, PTI news agency reported. “I met the CM, congratulated him, and extended my best wishes. NDA registered a historic victory under the leadership of Nitish Kumar, so our LJP(RV) delegation met him to convey this,” Paswan said after the meeting.
He further said he was “pleased” that the Bihar CM had “appreciated” the role played by all NDA allies. “He supported the LJP(RV) candidate when he voted, and in Alauli, where I vote, I supported the JD(U) candidate. This shows that those trying to mislead people about JD(U) and LJP(RV) were only creating a false narrative,” PTI quoted Paswan as saying.
Three seats in the Bihar Assembly elections had a victory margin of less than 100 votes. The Sandesh seat in Bhojpur, which witnessed a neck-and-neck contest, was won by Radha Charan Shah from JD(U) by only 27 votes.
Meanwhile, the Agiaon seat in Arrah was won by BJP's Mahesh Paswan by only 95 votes, against closest rival Shiv Prakash Ranjan of the CPI(ML) Liberation.
The Ramgarh assembly seat also had a victory margin of just 30 votes, with Bahujan Samaj Party candidate Satish Kumar Singh Yadav defeating Ashok Kumar Singh of the BJP.
The Rashtriya Janata Dal, spearheaded by Tejashwi Yadav for the Bihar polls, could win only 25 of the 143 seats in contested according to the INDIA bloc seat-sharing. However, it registered the highest vote share by any one party in the Assembly elections in Bihar this time.
In the Imamganj assembly segment, Deepa Kumar, daughter-in-law of union minister Jitan Ram Manjhi and sitting MLA from the seat, won by a margin of 25,856 votes over closest rival Ritu Priya Chaudhary from the RJD.
Manjhi has represented the Imamganj seat multiple times, and had resigned as MLA after he was elected as Lok Sabha MP. Following this, Deepa conteste the by-elections and won the seat.
JD(U) working president and MP Sanjay Jha said that the work done by Bihar CM Nitish Kumar “over the last 20 years, along with the allocations made for Bihar in the Union Budget by PM Modi” had “earned people's trust”.
Speaking to PTI news agency, Jha alleged that the voters could “not trust Mahagathbandhan”. He further said that the NDA's focus will be to provide “1 crore jobs in 5 years, as we have promised.”
The Mahua Assembly seat handed the win to Chirag Paswan's LJP(RV), with Tej Pratap Yadav, Lalu Yadav's eldest son, facing defeat. LJP(RV)'s Sanjay Kumar Singh won the Mahua constituency by a margin of 44, 997 votes. RJD's Mukesh Kumar Raushan was the closest rival, who polled 42,644 votes, with Tej Pratap of the JJD coming in at a distant third position.
On the announcement of the Bihar CM, JD(U) leader Shyam Rajak said that “no one other than Nitish Kumar” would take oath for the post. Rajak further said that the date for the oath-taking would also be decided for the CM, PTI news agency reported.
Lok Janshakti Party (Ram Vilas) chief Chirag Paswan on Saturday morning reached Bihar CM Nitish Kumar's residence, a day after the NDA registered a decisive victory in the Bihar Assembly elections.
The NDA bagged 202 seats in the 243-seat assembly, while the LJP(RV) won 19 of the 28 seats it contested on.
Union minister Piyush Goyal has said that the people in Bihar have “voted for good governance and development.” While speaking to ANI news agency, Goyal said the victory for NDA was the “voice of the people.” “I am confident that the coming years will be the golden years in Bihar's development,” he added.
Tamil Nadu CM MK Stalin congratulated Bihar CM Nitish Kumar on NDA's victory, while also appreciating Tejashwi Yadav. “I congratulate veteran leader Thiru. @NitishKumar for his decisive victory and wish him well in fulfilling the expectations of the people of #Bihar. I also appreciate young leader Thiru. @yadavtejashwi for his tireless campaign,” Stalin said in a post on X.
Stalin said the results had “lessons for everyone”, saying that “leaders of the #INDIA bloc are seasoned politicians capable of reading the message and planning strategically to address emerging challenges.”
However, Stalin took a potshot at the Election Commission of India, saying the results do not “whitewash the misdeeds and reckless actions of the ECI.” “The reputation of the #ECI is at its lowest point. The citizens of this country deserve a stronger and more impartial Election Commission, whose conduct of polls should inspire confidence even among those who do not win,” Stalin said in the post.
Despite its loss in the Assembly elections in Bihar, the Rashtriya Janata Dal had the highest vote share among parties, 2.92 per cent more than the BJP and 3.75 per cent more than JD(U). The RJD got 23 per cent votes, followed by the BJP, which got 20.08 per cent, and JD(U) at 19.25 per cent.
The Congress party, which was able to secure just six seats in the Bihar Assembly elections, has echoed the ‘vote chori’ claim following the poll results.
“Without doubt the election results in Bihar reflect vote chori on a gigantic scale - masterminded by the PM, the HM, and the Election Commission,” Congress leader Jairam Ramesh said in a post on X. Ramesh added that the party had renewed its “resolve to continue with even greater strength…campaign to protect the Constitution and save our democracy.”
Bihar chief minister Nitish Kumar, who is likely to take oath for another term as CM, had launched initiatives like the Mukhyamantri Mahila Rozgar Yojana, which might have led to women voters voting for the NDA. Under the scheme, ₹10,000 was given o over 1.20 crore women in Bihar.
With the NDA securing 202 seats, the Bharatiya Janata Party emerged as the single-largest party in the state with 89 seats. The BJP was closely followed by the JD(U). Other allies of the NDA coalition, including Chirag Paswan's LJP(RV) and Jitan Ram Manjhi's HAM(S), also registered high strike rates in the Assembly elections in Bihar.
Union Minister and Janata Dal (Secular) MP H D Kumaraswamy, after the NDA victory in Bihar elections, said the state had voted “to strengthen the hands of the Prime Minister and the development of Bihar.”
“We have election results under the leadership of Narendra Modi. Several leaders came together in the NDA, including our Home Minister, Amit Shah, BJP President JP Nadda, JDU leader and Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar, Chirag Paswan, and Jitan Ram Manjhi. All are working hard together,” Kumaraswamy said while speaking to ANI news agency.
Lok Janshakti Party (Ram Vilas) chief Chirag Paswan has accused the Mahagathbandhan of “provocative politics”, highlighting their charges on the EVMs and Election Commission.
“.. Finding fault with every issue, blaming EVMs, and blaming officials. If they spent as much time on their own assessment as they do on finding fault, then Congress and RJD would likely achieve something better... No Bihari tolerates personal comments that go below the limits...” ANI news agency quoted Paswan as saying.
“.. Yesterday, they stated that an atmosphere similar to that of Nepal, Bangladesh, and Sri Lanka will be created in India. Senior Congress leader Rahul Gandhi repeatedly says that Gen Z should play their role. The National Democratic Alliance swept Bihar, bagging 202 in the 243-seat state assembly. 28 sitting ministers from the NDA secured wins in their respective constituencies, ANI news agency reported, with the exception of one minister.
According to the Election Commission, among the NDA parties, the BJP won 89 seats, followed by the JD(U) with 85, the Lok Janshakti Party (Ram Vilas) with 19, the Hindustan Awam Morcha with 5, and the Rashtriya Lok Morcha with 4.
