Nayanthara and Dhanush’s legal dispute has become widely known, as the two popular Tamil actors have been at odds over a specific issue. Late last year, Nayanthara publicly criticized Dhanush for withholding the No Objection Certificate (NOC) required for her to include elements from their 2015 film Naanum Rowdy Dhaan in her Netflix documentary.
This disagreement has now escalated to a legal battle, with the matter currently in court. A hearing on the case is scheduled for later this month, keeping fans and the industry on edge as they await the resolution. This ongoing feud has added fuel to the already intense media attention surrounding both stars.
According to reports from Times Now, the Madras High Court has set the hearing for Nayanthara and Dhanush's legal dispute on January 22, 2025. Justice Abdul Quddhose has called both parties to appear in court on that date and has emphasized that no further adjournments will be allowed. This clear directive signals the court's determination to address the matter promptly.
The high-profile case continues to attract attention, and the resolution of this issue could have significant implications for both stars' professional reputations.
On November 16, 2024, Nayanthara released an open letter directed at Dhanush, expressing her frustration over his refusal to grant her a No Objection Certificate (NOC) to include footage from their 2015 film Naanum Rowdy Dhaan in her Netflix documentary Nayanthara: Beyond the Fairy Tale. The actress criticized the actor for his stance, fueling the ongoing public dispute between the two Tamil stars.
Nayanthara revealed that while working on her Netflix documentary, she had sought permission from Dhanush to feature visuals from their 2015 film Naanum Rowdy Dhaan. However, Dhanush denied her request and subsequently issued a legal notice demanding Rs 10 crore in damages, escalating the matter further.
“This is an all-time low from you and speaks so much about your character. I wish you were half the person you portray to be on stage in audio launches in front of your innocent fans but clearly you do not practice what you preach, at least not for me and my partner," a part of her post read.

Subsequently, Dhanush filed a civil suit in the Madras High Court against Nayanthara, her husband Vignesh Shivan, and Netflix. The suit was in response to the unauthorized use of footage from Naanum Rowdy Dhaan, a film he produced, which appeared in the couple’s Netflix documentary.
Nayanthara: Beyond the Fairy Tale is a documentary that explores the actress’s rise to fame and her personal journey to finding love. The film is currently available for streaming on Netflix.
